5 Healthy Snacks For Your Kids

By: Gabriel Adams

We all want our children to eat healthy foods. One way to encourage kids to eat healthier is to offer them healthy snacks. Here are five easy and healthy snacks you can easily make for your kids.

Ants on a log

As long as your child isn’t allergic to peanut butter, this is a wonderful snack that children love to create and eat. Simply spread some peanut butter, crunchy or creamy is your choice, on a stalk of celery. Dot the peanut butter with raisins, and cut the celery into manageable lengths for your child. Let your child get creative and make their own ants on a log.

Homemade granola bars

Homemade granola bars are an excellent way to monitor the health content of your children’s snacks. They can easily be made with all natural ingredients including honey, dried fruits, wheat germ, wheat bran and even protein powder.

Fruit slices and dip

Every kid likes to dip their foods. Consider different dip options such as applesauce, yogurt or sour cream with brown sugar or honey. Add variety to the snack by combining different fruits.

Mini sandwiches

Everything is more fun when it is miniaturized. Create sandwiches and cut them into interesting shapes with cookie cutters. Crackers can be used as a bread substitute for added fun and variety.

Muffins

Muffins are a delicious and nutritious snack for kids of all ages. Muffin pans come in standard, miniature and jumbo sizes. Be sure to experiment with all of the sizes for maximum enjoyment. Also, don’t be afraid to try several different types of muffins. Muffins can be made with fruit, nuts or a combination.

If your children are unsure about whether they like a particular snack, offer it to them on several different occasions. The more times you try a food, the higher the chance that you will come to enjoy that food.
