7 Easy Tips For Eating Well and Losing Weight

By: Josh Wintrop

Eating better and losing weight do not have to be an impossible uphill battle. Most people fail with losing weight because the workout plans and diets they go on are too difficult to stick with. Try following these easy tips in your everyday eating habits and you'll be surprised at how effective they can be. The best part is, they are not hard to implement into your everyday diet and you won't feel like you are in a battle with food.

1. Eat as much green as you want. Go ahead and fill up on green vegetables so you won't eat as much of the other, fattier items on your plate. It is almost impossible to eat too many green vegetables.

2. Eat more fish. Try to eat fish at least 2-3 times a week. The only thing to be cautious of here is to avoid eating large fish like tuna and swordfish more than once a week because of the mercury contained in them.

3. Eat less red meat. Try not to eat red meat more than twice a week. This includes hamburgers and steaks so make sure to save those items for more special occasions.

4. Portion control. Finish half of your plate and wait 20 minutes before deciding if you need more. You'll be surprised to find out that most of the time you will have a sensation of fullness after the wait.

5. Cut down on alcohol. This is especially true for beer and cocktails with sweet mixers loaded with sugar. Lowering alcohol intake is a real easy way to cut out hundreds of calories during a meal.

6. Drink green tea. This is not only very good for your health in general, but it also gives you a sensation of being full. Make sure not to load the tea with sugar or cream.

7. Drink a lot of water. This is the obvious one, but make sure you stick with it. Many times people mistake thirst for hunger and eat something instead of having a glass of water. Next time you get a hunger alert, start with some good old water.

Sticking to these 7 tips will definitely have an impact on your overall health and weight loss efforts. Stick to the basics listed here and you are on your way.
