By: alien

Anaemia

Anaemia is a condition in which the blood fails to supply the body's tissues with sufficient amounts of oxygen. Anaemia occurs due to low amount of red blood cells in the body. There are many different types of anaemia with different causes, among these iron deficiency is a very common cause. Anaemia occurs either through the reduced production of red blood cells or an increased loss of red blood cells.

Anaemia is the most common nutritional problem in all over the world. Most often it affects women of childbearing age. Men and women are also affected by this illness but mortally in there older age like after 75 years of there age. Growing children and teenagers are also affected by it. Usually it's because their diet doesn't contain enough iron, vitamin B12 and folic acid.

Causes of Anaemia

It is caused by a lack of iron in the diet. This is not a important point that a person eating iron foods may not be affect by it, actually it depends upon the absorption of iron in the body. Therefore poor iron absorption in the body is also main cause of anaemia or from blood loss, for example, by heavy menstrual bleeding and ulcer or bowel cancer. Iron deficiency anaemia is a condition which causes a decrease of red blood cells in the blood. However, iron deficiency can be present before actual anaemia develops. Actual anaemia only develops once iron deficiency becomes more severe.
