Blackheads Treatment - How to Get Rid of Blackheads

By: alien

Blackheads are caused when sebum (the skin's natural oil) collects and hardens in the pores.

Blackheads are mainly caused by overproduction of the sebaceous glands. There are 2 different types of blackheads – white and black. When the pores get clogged up, but the opening stays open it is called a blackhead but when the opening closes and begins bulging from the skin it is called a whitehead. Many things give rise to blackheads like disorder of hormones, inappropriate eating habits, improper sanitation and hygiene conditions, excessive use of make up, etc.

Blackheads can be very frustrating not only physically but also mentally. Proper care and attention are very important to keep your skin clean and healthy. Popping blackheads can be very dangerous as the oil and bacteria can spread to other parts of the face and thus give rise to a swarm of blackheads. Also, sometimes permanent scarring or blemishes can occur.
But still many people try to get rid of blackheads, so some precautions should be taken not to aggravate the skin condition. You should wash your face and hands properly with warm water, and after your face dries up, try to gently squeeze the pimple but with a tissue paper, then again wash your face properly again then apply some mild cream on that. You should be careful to see that if the pus does not come out even after trying 2 -3 times you should not play with it anymore. You should not use creams, lotions or moisturizers that are sticky or greasy type. Also, you should avoid harsh creams. Also avoid using too much make-up.

Popping blackheads have often been criticized by experts. Time and patience are the key to solve these kind of problems. Also, some preventive steps from our side can also help. It is always the best idea to consult a dermatologist in case of any skin problems. You can also take help from him to pop up your blackheads.

The best way to get rid of blackheads is to do the following,

1. Wash the skin using a gentle, natural exfoliating product and pat the skin dry
2. Fill a bowl/basin with boiling water, and a few drops of tea tree oil
3. Steam your face for about 5 minutes to open the pores and soften the skin
4.Sunshine or ultra-violet light encourages skin peeling, and so helps to clear blocked pores. So sunbathing or use of sun-beds in moderation can be helpful.
5.Keep your hair away from your face. Greasy hair and skin go together, and hair can spread infection.

Do not to try and extract them forcibly, either using your fingers, fingernails or a comedone (blackhead) remover. This can cause permanent damage to the pores and stop them working properly for ever. You may squeeze some of the blackhead out, but you could also force some of it even deeper into the skin, which may lead to infection (large spots, pimples or even cysts) or permanent damage. Touching your skin should generally be avoided to prevent cross infection.
