Can I Do a Detox With Only Raw Foods?

By: loufrank22

Written by Yuri Elkaim

Doing a raw food detox is not only possible, it is ideal. A raw, organic diet is able to detox your body, even while it repairs damaged tissue, provides living enzymes to the digestive system, and strengthens and promotes healthy cell growth. For this reason, a raw-foods-only diet is highly recommended.

If you choose to do a raw food cleanse, we urge you to do a combination of juices and whole fruits and vegetables. We also encourage you to limit the intake of sugary fruits vs. vegetables to limit the sugars in your diet. Finally, we advise you to use only organic, naturally grown fruit and vegetables, since pesticides and herbicides will only keep making your body toxic if you
continue to ingest them.

The benefits of eating raw foods only are numerous. Not only are raw fruits and vegetables easier on the digestive system, they contain many important nutrients, like fiber, iron, vitamin C, E, and A, and vitamins from the B complex. These foods also have omega 3 fatty acids in them, which are extremely important for cleansing, cell growth, and cancer prevention.

When you drink fresh fruit and vegetable juices, you are increasing the nutritional benefits even more. Juicing breaks through the cell wall of the plant you are eating, and releases more nutrients in a form that your body can readily digest. These juices are like vitamin boosters for your system, and major blood, liver, kidney and colon cleansers.

When you make a green juice, or a juice including onion or garlic, you are providing immune boosting vitamins to your system, while, at the same time, helping your body fight off parasites and fungal growths. All of these are benefits that only raw fruits and vegetables and their juices can provide.

Another major benefit of a raw food detox diet is the alkalizing effects of fruit and vegetables in the body. Most fruit and vegetables can help the body become more alkaline, the way it should be, vs. acidic. The body becomes acidic because of a poor diet or antibiotics, but fruits and vegetables provide the chemistry and living enzymes it takes to restore the natural pH balance of the blood.

Spirulina, chlorella, and wheat grass are recommended for juice in a raw food diet because the contain probiotics. If you have a juicer that will properly juice these vegetables, we encourage you to drink a helping everyday during your cleanse to restore the helpful bacteria in your stomach and colon. If you do not have a proper juicer, you may want to include a probiotic along with your raw food detox diet.

The most important thing is to stick to organic vegetables, and to not skimp on water. Water is important no matter what you eat. A raw food diet, with plenty of water, is an excellent detox solution.
