By: Sarah Rhodes

Candida yeast infection is being caused by the overgrowth of the Candida fungi. This could happen for a lot of reason. Pregnancy or stress may cause it as well as some illnesses which affect the immune system. Even some medicines like birth control pills or steroids may cause the Candida yeast infection. But the antibiotics are the most dangerous as they kill the bacteria which is preventing the overgrowth of the Candida fungi, consequently the infection is on its way. Another cause for the Candida yeast infection could be high blood sugar, but in young females' case. Girls who are suffering from untreated diabetes present a higher risk of suffering from with Candida yeast infection.

Candida is quickly becoming one of the most controversial health topics of our time. Most conventional doctors dont believe the ailment even exists since there are such a myriad of symptoms associated with the disease, but those that do believe tend to do so passionately. There has never been any sort of ironclad study done on the ability for a woman who suffers from Candida to conceive, the much more common yeast infection form of Candida is thought to interfere in a womans body chemistry enough as to stop any possible conception.

The most widely occurring form of mouth yeast infection is thought to be caused by the yeast named Candida that is normally found in the digestive and vaginal tracts of the human body. There is a large group of fungi called Candida or Monilia which is responsible for a certain yeast organism called Monilia albicans. This fungus causes candidiasis or moniliasis and infects the mouth as well as throats especially among babies and the elderly. Species of Candida are thought to result in disease through one of three primary modes: Invasion of tissue, induction of a hypersensitive state or by making potent toxins.

An abundance of candida may also cause vaginitis, commonly known as a yeast infection. Ordinary symptoms are vaginal itching, a white discharge, sensitive skin at the vaginal opening and pain during urination or intercourse. This condition is especially common in women who are pregnant or taking antibiotics. Women using contraceptives with a high estrogen level are also more susceptible to yeast infections. Because the same fungus that causes vaginal yeast infections is responsible for thrush, it may also be spread through oral sex.

Vaginal Yeast infection in women is very common. Yeasts or Candida fungus are minute organisms that live in small numbers on human body. Yeast infection occurs when the number of these organisms increases beyond a certain level. Typically, the acidity in the vagina keeps the level of yeast low. But with the drop in the acidity level due to various conditions like menstruation period, pregnancy, diabetes or birth control pills, yeast grows and causes the infection.

There is a proven connection between systemic yeast infection and chronic fatigue syndrome. Candidiasis is also responsible for skin infections and causes chronic vaginal yeast infections.

So how do you know if you are suffering from thrush? One of the telltale sign is having white creamy patches in the mouth. Red spots on the roof of the mouth, throat, gums and on the tongue are also clear indications of Thrush. A person suffering from Thrush may also see crusts forming on the corners of his or her mouth. Difficulties in swallowing, nausea and chest pains are some of the other signs of having Thrush.
