Capturing The Sale: How to Make Your Store Displays Shine

By: Tymon Hytem

So you spent all of this time making your store look top notch, but you are having a difficult time getting the customers to buy your merchandise. You should take a look at your stores lighting. How your store is lighted can make a big difference not only in how your merchandise looks, but also will increase your sales. Lighting will give your existing displays look totally different and will attract customers.
There are several types of lighting that you should consider when choosing what is right for your establishment. You can choose from accent lighting, up lighting, down lighting and front lighting. Each one has their own way of creating a flattering effect on your merchandise.
The most common use of lighting is what is called down lighting. This type of lighting when you have lights in the ceiling and the light comes down. This is the most efficient and most cost effective type of lighting. You will see this type of lighting mostly in homes or in larger establishments where they have a lot of floor space to light. A more interesting way to attract your customers is through accent lighting. This is a great way to showcase certain displays that will catch your customer’s eye and increase your sales. Another way to use lighting is up lighting. This will create drama and high light areas. It is an ideal way to create a more elegant atmosphere and also highlight displays. It will draw attention to items that you want your customers to pay attention to. The final type of lighting is called front lighting. This again is a very common method of lighting. This type of lighting is used to get rid of shadows. It can create a very flattering look on your establishment and make it easier for your customers to see what you have in your shop. With this type of lighting, you need to be careful as it will even out the area that you are lighting. If you are looking for a more dramatic look to your lighting, then you want to make sure to avoid front lighting.
Lighting can be an important way to help increase the sales in your establishment. You should experiment with the different types of lighting and then choose what works best for your environment.
