Caterers Spice up Special Occasions

By: Rob Parker

Home entertaining has resurrected the glamour of the once passé cocktail party. Dining and entertaining at home is again becoming a popular way to spend time with friends and family. If you are the host or hostess of a party in your home, consider spicing up the evening by hiring a caterer. Everyone involved can relax and have a good time -- even you! Many catering companies offer specialties of their own: cocktail parties, fancy appetizers and pastries, 5 course meals, cooking lessons, wine-centered menus and so much more.

Have you ever wondered why it is that food just tastes more enjoyable when someone else cooks it? Enjoy succulent, mouth-watering food, prepared especially for you by the caterer of your choice -- and no pots to scrub! Sometimes it’s just nice to sit back and be “catered” to.

Catering can be a fun and wonderfully interesting way to entertain friends, family or colleagues. Hiring a caterer to bring the meal to your home can be as simple as having the meal delivered with instructions on how to serve the food. Or the caterer may prepare the food in your home while your guests are enjoying cocktails and conversation. Alternatively, it can be engaging and amusing if your guests have the opportunity to assist in the preparation, or simply observe the chef at work and chat with him about his passion as he works.

Most caterers have their own advice and guidelines on what to serve and how to present the meal. You may even have the delightful pleasure of gaining some new and interesting tidbits about wine and food. It can be amazing how some simple culinary knowledge will turn a mediocre meal into a great meal.

For an event like a wedding, corporate function, family reunion, or office party, you would be wise to consider the cooking talents of a caterer. Depending on the caterer, generally once you share your ideas you can sit back and relax until the day of the event. Many caterers are more than capable of handling all the other planning elements. If your idea is to just have food catered and you wish to do all the other arrangements yourself, that option remains available to you.

Either way, the culinary creativity is in the talented, capable hands of the person behind the counter with the apron and the white hat, and your party will be a success for everyone to enjoy. Spice it up!
