Digestive Stress

By: Bud Tarreto

Have you ever stood next to to someone and had to take a few steps back or turn
your head because they had really bad breath? Have you, or someone you know,
had to excuse themselves immediately at a restaurant because of gas? Do you ever
suffer from heartburn or do spicy foods upset your stomach? How about extreme
gas or bloating soon after eating? Have you ever experienced headaches
over the eyes or pain between the shoulder blades? These are just a few of the
obvious signs of digestive stressthat millions of people suffer with every day. Then
of course, there's that dreaded word "acid reflux". More than likely you've
heard of acid blocking drugs that are advertised in magazines and on tv -
(short term relief). Do they really fix the problem and what are the long-term
effects on your digestive system? We're constantly hearing about dangerous food
bacteria like salmonella and E-coli, but what amazes me is that some people get
violently ill from these, some experience mild illness, and some seem to
experience no reaction at all. Why is that? Is it that we are truly getting
more instances of food bacteria or is it that more and more people are taking
acid blocking medications? Could these medications possibly make them less
resistant to the bacteria? When you stifle the creating of hydrochloric acid
in your body, wouldn't it have an affect on the rest of the digestive system?

Let's look at some of the facts. Healthy HCL or HCL levels levels ignite
pepcin, an enzyme that plays a role in protein digestion. Proper HCL levels
activate secretin that begins the pancreatic release which in turn helps digest
fruits, starches, protein and fats. The correct stomach PH ignites
cholecystokinin which begins healthy fat digestion. Oh, and did I forget to
tell you that HCL also kills the bacteria on our food? It would be very scary
indeed to see all the bacteria in our food- we'd be shocked! Therefore, the
importance of healthy HCL function can kill the bacteria that causes distress.

Jonathan Wright, M.D., a major proponent of hydrochloric therapy for years has
his patients swallow a low radio transmitting device called a hydelburg capsule
to measure HCL levels. He finds that a huge number percentage of his patients don't
have enough hydrochloric acid. In his book, "why Stomach Acid is Good for You",
he explains how healthy HCL levels destroy bacteria that is not good for you.
He notes about a cholera outbreak in India; how people who had a healthy HCL
level remained healthy.

Unfortunately, most people who take the acid blocking drugs are aware that the
manufacturers originally only suggested only sixteen weeks of therapy. In other words,
long enough to help with repair of inflammed tissues. These medications were
not meant to be life-long therapies. However, money in acid blocking drugs is
BIG! In fact, Americans spend over $10 billion dollars annually associated with
gastric reflux. All we want is a "quick fix". Take a pill and no more pain.
Why not? Besides the old stand-by antacid, we now have a whole new market of
over-the-counter acid suppressing drugs. No one wants to think about what is
really needed or has to be done to actually solve the challenge.

Did you know that stomach cancer is on the rise? And that H-pylori bacteria
could be related to it? Do you ever wonderthat we could be changing
the ph of the stomach with the acid blocking drugs and causing dangerous
effects with the increase of the H-pylori bacteria? A study done at the
University of Pennsylvania in 2006, found a 44% increase in hip fractures due
to proton pump inhibitors longer than one year. The reason for this happening
is that low stomach acid limits the way nutrients are absorbed;
particularly calcium and other minerals essential for bone growth- like zinc and
copper. Studies have documented other deficiencies as well, associated with HCL
suppressors and these drugs may well affect bone molding or bone metabolism. It
is vital to remember that throughout our lives, bones need to be completely
replaced cell by cell, every 7 to 10 years. The point is that your body doesn't
have a deficiency in acid suppressant drugs, but the symptoms that your body is
experiencing may indicate there is a deficiency in your body Fill free to email us at Capture Your Health. We're here to help you find the solution to your
particulardigestive problem
