Foods that Cleanse the Colon

By: Dave Martinez

It is true that colon cleansing is receiving a lot of buzz these days.  If you’ve never ‘cleaned your colon’ and are too scared to try one of those colon cleansing kits or dread the idea of a colonic then read on.  Believe it or not, the most natural way to clean your colon is by what you put in your mouth.  So what are the “foods that cleanse the colon?”

One of the best ways to start is to eat foods that are rich in fiber.  Fiber is the key ingredient to provide healthy bowel movements and to prevent constipation.  The American Dietetic Association recommends a daily intake of 20 – 30 grams of fiber per day.  Most Americans only consume about 10 – 15grams.

Beans and legumes are at the top of the list and are absolutely loaded with fiber.  These foods are excellent side dishes for all types of meals.  Lentils, black beans, and kidney beans head the pack in this group.

Organic vegetables rank in second place when it comes to high fiber foods.  Eating vegetables are all-around healthy and you cannot go wrong.  Some of the more popular ones include peas, potatoes, corn, carrots, and any green leafy vegetables.  If you are really daring you can pick up artichokes, turnips, and brussel sprouts.

Whole grains and pastas are also high in fiber.  This could also include bran cereals which is an easy way to get an extra dose of fiber every morning.  Other foods would include oatmeal, spaghetti, and most bread.

Our last group of food is organic fruits.  These will be the most popular because they are the most delicious!  So take advantage of them.  Pears, blueberries, apples, strawberries, and figs all make the cut.

One word of caution before you embark on a high-fiber diet.  Fiber naturally absorbs water from your body, so always drink plenty of fluids when eating these foods.

If you want to take the extra step in cleaning your colon, Bowtrol is a safe and all-natural product designed specifically to gently clean your colon.  It is a unique proprietary blend of natural herbs that are safe, simple, and effective.
