Getting The Perfect Wedding Dress

By: julie vincetti

You have decided that marriage is right for you, and now you need to start thinking about your attire for that special day! There are so many decisions to make just in choosing the dress; should it be traditional in style or more modern and trendy? Should it cover your body or will you want some of your better features exposed? Regardless of the huge amount of choices, the final choice needs to be perfect for you.

Once you decide you are getting married, selecting what you are going to wear for that big day should be one of the top priorities on your list. To save on some of the wedding stress you will undoubtedly encounter, you will need to give yourself lots of time to sample lots of different dress types to work out which one is the real you.

If you have decided on a theme for your wedding, this will be an important factor in choosing the perfect wedding dress. Will you be having a beach wedding? If this is the case, you will be looking for a style that is not too hot and heavy. Will your wedding be a fairytale style wedding? If so, you will want lots of lace and silk. No matter which type of wedding you have decided on, your wedding dress will play a major part in setting the scene.

One more major deciding point is when in the year are you planning your wedding for. If you are getting married in the winter months, you will want a multi layered dress and probably one that fully covers your arms. You will not want to stand there freezing on the most important day of your life. You will want to be as comfortable as possible as your wedding memories will be with you for the rest of your life.

When choosing a wedding dress, try on comfortable styles. Walk around in them, if kneeling is part of your ceremony, then kneel in the dress and be sure you are not going to be uncomfortable in your choice.

Your wedding dress design in only part of whether the dress is right for you. The other part is whether you are right for the wedding dress. You need the dress to accentuate your beauty and be in tune with your body so you can look elegant. If there is any discomfort to the wedding dress at all, this will cause you to not look your best as you will be troubled by any discomfort which will grow the longer you are in the wedding dress.

A big mistake when selecting a wedding dress is getting the size right. If you have every intention of slimming before your wedding, make sure that you get the wedding dress for the size you are now and not what you think you will be on the wedding day. It is much easier to get your dress adjusted by taking it in rather than having to try to add material if the slimming did not have the effect you were after.

Although a wedding can be an expensive affair, do not skimp when selecting your wedding dress. Have family members chip in with making flowers. Get family or friends to take the wedding photos and maybe even get a family member to make your wedding cake. The dress will be the most important part of your day as it will be seen throughout the whole day. If you cannot afford wedding boutique prices, check out wedding consignment shops for nearly new dresses at much cheaper prices. These will look just as good.

It does not matter what the style, color or cost of the dress is, just remember that you are who your intended fell in head over heals with, not your clothes. All the dress will do is help accentuate all those aspects of yourself that he fell in love with in the first place.

After you have chosen your wedding dress hang it in the bag it comes in and do not over show it. Give guests something to look forward to as they see you for the first time walking down the aisle. And unless it is unavoidable, do not let your future husband see your dress at all before the wedding. It's bad luck!
