Gifts for Pet Lovers

By: Azlan

Let’s face it; almost everyone has a few friends who are crazy about their pets. Whether it’s a colleague who’s nuts about his pooch or a dorm mate who can’t live without her kitty, we all know someone who’s really into pets, for one reason or another. Whenever a special occasion comes along, more often than not, they just get some dull, silly gifts that just don’t give justice or show any appreciation for their pet-loving personalities.

Come Christmas or any other special occasion, forget the dull package of treats or biscuits. I positively think you can do better than that, right? C’mon, people, go for one of these unique, useful and cute gifts! If you really want to give a special present this year, I’ve got some great ideas for you.

First Aid kits – We’re sticklers for being prepared for any emergency, and a well-stocked first-aid kit is a must in any home. But what about our pets? They, too, deserve some care and preparation in case they get into an accident, right? There are lots of first-aid kits for animals online, stocked with veterinarian-approved products and medications. If you need help, many of these kits also come with booklets containing information about proper first-aid procedures.

Scrapbooks – If you’ve got a friend or family member with a creative eye and a pet lover to boot, then you’ve found the perfect gift for him or her. Give crafty pet lovers a creative outlet that involves their favorite four-legged friend by giving a complete scrapbooking kit filled with all the materials needed to jumpstart an album.

Donations – Give a donation to a charity that helps animals, regionally or globally. This should endear you to your pet lover. Local humane societies are always in need of funds and items such as cat litter and bleach to help run their operations smoothly and effectively.

Obedience Training – Do you know someone who just cannot make his beloved pet sit and stay? Are you lending a constant ear of sympathy to a friend whose pet is forever misbehaving? Do them a favor and give them a “full scholarship” to obedience school. Courses run about $150 for multiweek sessions. Some schools also give private lessons as well.

Collar Bling – Every special dog or cat needs some bling. There are several beautiful collars from a variety of materials to accessorize your pet or that of your friend, or you could just pick up some collar charms that come in all sorts of shapes, styles, and sizes that work just fine.

Knit for A Pet – Lots of project ideas will surely flow from a present of knitting pattern books, from beds, carrying baskets and cases, toys, etc. to create some masterpieces that celebrate the affection and bond between human and pet.

A Day at the Spa – Pets, like humans, endure a lot of stress, too. And what better way to de-stress than to treat them at a relaxing and comfortable day at the spa? There they can be groomed, cleaned, and relaxed to their hearts’ content. Grooming costs $35 and up, depending on the size and fur length of the animal. Some spas give lots of luxurious pampering options, while others boast all-natural cleansers.
