Great Gifts for Men

By: Daniel Kelly

This way, ladies! There’s no time to decide on the best gift for your man. The time for the gift giving is coming, and you are getting more and more nervous about the big day and the gift you will have to have. You once bought a last minute necktie rather than figure out in advance what the perfect gift would be. But now, you will know what that perfect gift is!

Men with a practical streak will not want something showy and expensive. You’ll need to come up with something useful that will fill a need.Of course, that won’t mean a box full of disposable razors and deodorant. The answer is to think about the person you are buying for.

What hobbies are your man’s favorites? If your man loves cigars, wine, or coins, there are gifts of cigars, humidors, wine club subscriptions, or mint condition coins; if it’s music he loves, try a set of headphones or speakers to enhance his music enjoyment.

Is he a big sports fan?Golfers would be thrilled with a box of golfing gear, such as tees, balls, gloves, and a couple of games thrown in for good measure. Or, a tennis racket or a subscription to a sports channel might do the trick.

What type of work does he do? A beautiful briefcase to carry or a desk set for work might be appreciated, or even a fun gadget for his computer. He has things like that because he likes them.

Notice his sense of style for gift ideas. If it’s cold where he lives, gifts of a thick, warm ski jacket or a pair of leather boots or Oxfords might be a big hit. Hot weather gifts can include a hot weather outfit, such as a Hawaiian shirt made of silk, a pair of versatile khaki shorts, and comfortable deck shoes. No matter what the climate, every man can use a nice watch.

Most men love their cars. Is he one of them? A man who is practical will love a nice, big box full of things to keep his car clean both inside and out. Arranging a detailing, window tinting or sound system appointment for him would be just what he needs.

There are some men who are simply not practical. But, there are plenty of gifts for them as well. Cultural gifts will best suit a man with a romantic tendency. If your man is adventurous, there are plenty of gifts out there with an emphasis on travel, adventurous leisure time, and the outdoors.

Romantic men may enjoy playing the guitar, or just reading or listening to music. If this sounds like your man, he might love a new instrument to learn, a set of finely-bound books, or a collection of his favorite music. If he loves music or the theater, he might love a pair of surprise tickets from you.

The adventure lover might prefer some new fishing equipment or other sports gear, a camera, activity-specific shoes, or a plane ticket to somewhere far away. Some men might prefer a GPS, a day to spend at the beach, antique firearms, or perhaps a treasure hunt that you arrange. But, best gift for your man may be something you can't see.

Don't worry about your man suddenly changing. Sports fans will always be sports fans. The practical man will always prefer practical items. The romantic man will always be a dreamer. And, adventurous men will always be seeking the next big adventure. Any gift that has made your man happy in the past will likely make him happy again. When you do find the perfect gift, your man will see the effort you put in, which is the best gift you can give.
