Morning sickness means nausea and vomiting during pregnancy. Around 60-80 percent of pregnant women suffer from morning sickness during the period of pregnancy. The occurrence is more during the morning but can occur in the daytime. It is most common in the first trimester of pregnancy but sometimes remains till last trimesters.

How long will morning sickness last?

Morning sickness is very common early in a pregnancy. It tends to go away later in pregnancy, and it's almost always gone by the second trimester (the fourth month). But there isn't a set time for it to stop because each woman is different, and each pregnancy is different.

Home Remedies for morning sickness

* Take one tablespoon of apple cider vinegar and one tablespoon honey in cold water before going to bed at night. This help in moring sickness treatment
* Take teaspoon limejuice, a teaspoon mint juice, and a tablespoon sugar three times in a day.
* It is better not to keep the stomach empty. Six small meals rather than three large meals are advisable.
* Fried and fatty foods should not be taken.
* Good amount of vitamin B and calcium should be included in the diet for morning sickness treatment.
* Eat a high protein snack before going bed at night.
* The best morning sickness treatment is enough rest.
* Foods rich in protein and complex carbohydrates should be included in the diet.
* Drink wheat germ dissolved in warm milk, a few teaspoons after every hour.
* Put three drops of lavender essential oil and another of peppermint in a diffuser.
* Fresh air is best to reduce morning sickness

Self Care

There are many self care methods of alleviating the symptoms and minimizing the effects of morning sickness. These include:

* Eat four to six small meals per day, instead of three heavy meals. An empty stomach and low blood sugar, resulting from long stretches between meals, can trigger nausea, as can eating too much at one meal.
* Eat crackers or dry toast 20 to 30 minutes before getting up in the morning, while slightly propped up in bed. Bland foods such as crackers or pretzels may help at any time of day when you feel nauseated.
* Minimize the intake of fluids with meals. Instead drink small amounts of fluids frequently between meals.
