It's become increasingly more and more difficult to find affordable health insurance quotes online for an individual or family. I was just speaking to a family member earlier today and he's a school teacher that is, due to circumstances beyond his control, planning on changing jobs soon, but he's already paying around $800 per month for health insurance for a family of five and he's afraid that he may end up in a worse situation before all is said and done.

Unfortunately, he lives in a very rural town that's about an hour away from the nearest big city. Health insurance rates tend to be higher in or not as readily available in rural towns as they are in the bigger cities. Even if they could see a doctor in the city they're looking at over 100 miles round trip for an appointment. In this case you'd also have to figure in the cost of gas to get back and forth and with five family members things could get easily out of hand very quickly.

There are ways that you can keep your health insurance costs low, but by cutting too many corners you'll also potentially be cutting your quality of care to the point where it's almost not worth it. Also, if you raise your deductable too high you'll soon be paying 100% of all of your everyday medical costs out of pocket. The only thing that I can really recommend at this point is to keep looking around and comparing quotes.

Most health insurance quotes are free and I for one would take advantage of ever one that I could. I'd also be prepared to have several quotes in hand from different companies when talking to an agent. It's called bartering my friend and sometimes it works.
