How To Save BIG Major Dental Care

By: Joe Stewart

I want to take a few minutes explain to you how inexpensive it can actually be to get your dentures replaced. You see, many people are obsessed with the thought that dental insurance is the "end all" when it comes to getting some type of coverage for your teeth, but I'm telling you that you are way off base if this is what you think. When people think of insurance they think of car insurance, homeowners insurance, medical insurance etc. and, unfortunately, this place dental care in that same category. I'm telling you now that it's just not that great of a deal anymore. This is not some big sales pitch, it's just the facts. Let me explain.

Dental insurance is designed almost exclusively for preventive maintenance care. This is to cover things like cleanings, x-rays, fluoride treatments, routine checkups etc., not dentures, root canals, bridge work, oral surgery or anything major. If you are having problems with your teeth and you go and purchase a dental insurance policy today you will not be covered for whatever problems you're having. It doesn't work like that. Standard dental insurance policies require a six to 12 month waiting period on any condition that is considered to be pre-existing. I means that if you have a toothache you're going to pay for the cost of getting that fixed out of your pocket until six to 12 months has past. In the meantime, you're going to pay monthly premiums that can be very high and you're also going to be a deductible on any other needs it you get taken care of. Are you beginning to get the picture?

The alternative that I'm talking about is called a dental discount plan. Dental discount plans are sometimes also referred to as discount dental plans. What these offer is a big discount for being a member of the plans network. This is out works. You pay a small fee to become a member of the plan, this is normally as low as $80 per year for an individual or $150 per year for an entire family. After paying your initial membership fee, you can visit any dentist within the plan network and receive substantial discounts of anywhere from 10 to 60% on everyday dental procedures. This means that if you need upper dentures and you can save up to 60% off of the cost that you usually pay. I was looking at one of the plans in the Phoenix, Arizona area recently and the usual cost for upper dentures there was $1252, but with the savings in the plan the cost was only around $700 actually . That's a savings of over $500 just on this one procedure alone. This example is only for one area and the savings could be more or less, depending on the area that you happen to live in.

With dental discount plans pre-existing conditions are not a problem, there are no exclusions, no limitations and no age limits. The only thing that you need to do is pay the discounted fee at the time that you see the dentist, that's all. You get a substantial discount off of your dental work and your dentist gets paid cash on the spot. This is a "win-win" situation for both you and your dentist. If you are in need of dental work, especially something major like dentures, as in the example explained above, a highly recommend that you take a look and dental discount plans.
