Incentive is the secret to successful weight loss

By: Albert F A Matthews

Whilst you're losing weight it can be a major challenge to stay motivated. Let's face it, there are such a lot of distractions and temptations that it can be extremely troublesome to stay focused on your diet.
You want to possess a compelling reason in order to successfully lose weight. People who have these compelling reasons are the individuals who succeed. Those who do not are the people who spend years struggling with their weight, never feeling fully happy with themselves or their lives.
How will you achieve this level of motivation which permits you to both lose weight and keep it off?
The answer is to have powerful, motivating reasons for you to lose weight. Not just any reasons, like "I wish to fit in to that slinky black dress or tailormade suit" or "because I am overweight" or "for the reason that I ought to".
You want reasons that completely inspire you to such an extent that you'll do anything to make them happen!
You have to find reasons that are totally motivating and focusing for you such as "If I do not lose weight then I will die of a heart attack like my father which means that I will not be in a position to see my baby boy grow up, get married and have children". Is that a motivating reason?
What is motivating for you could be completely unique compared to what's motivating for the following person. You have to assume up your own motivating reasons as motivating may be a very individual thing.
Any reason that you feel features a should or ought around it is not going to be motivating enough for you. Both Shoulds and Oughts are not real reasons, they're get out clauses! Should means that you've got to do one thing out of a sense of obligation rather than because you want to! There's no way that will encourage you, can it, is it?
So what reasons do you have for wanting to lose weight?
Do you have children?
Are you going on a big date or to a wedding or different event?
Have you been warned by your doctor concerning your weight?
Grab a bit of paper and write down all the reasons why you have to lose weight. Write everything down, don't stop, you'll sort them out afterwards.
Once you have written all of them down then discard any that are shoulds or oughts and keep the motivating ones. Then rewrite them in the most positive and motivating manner possible.
When you have finished this, decide the top 3 to five reasons and write them out on a piece of card or paper in your neatest handwriting. You then want to stick it somewhere you'll see it each morning or carry it around with you. If there are other folks in your house than you may not need to stick your weight loss reasons up anywhere.
You must read these each day, both in the morning and at night. Ideally do it just before bed and right once you get up. This ensures you always keep in mind your powerful reasons that provides you motivation every day to stick to your diet.
When you are doing this every day you'll notice your motivation increasing, dieting becoming easier and your weight literally dropping off you.
