Is Leaded Gas A Cause Of Schizophrenia

It is more probably that the cause of schizophrenia is linked with a dysfunction into the grows period of the brain. And this was a new beginning in schizophrenia causes.

So, the scientists started to find out what can disturb this process, and how can prevent such thing. Studies have indicated that children that are born from mothers who are exposed to toxic agents such as the lead in gasoline or petrol and paint industry during the pregnancy are up to 300% more likely to develop schizophrenia.

And it could be possible, because till a few years ago the lead was used in large amount in cars fuel, and the risk was higher.

How does it work isn’t well known, but that lead inhibits brain activity in exactly the same way as alcohol does. Babies brain is affected science they are in their mother womb. The researchers involved in the study believe that cell suicide triggered by the lead is causing the schizophrenia.

The scientist arrived to this conclusion by making blood tests on pregnant women. And now they are trying to find more others toxin that can cause brain disturbance and lead to mental diseases.

It is important now, that we are knowing that alcohol and toxic gases are important predisposing factors to schizophrenia, to prevent it.

To be more sure, the scientists recommend that the pregnant women avoid exposure to the toxic agents during the pregnancy, they attention us to be sure to check the lead level of our water too.

For our help is invented a test named do-it-yourself. Do-it-yourself kits are like home pregnancy tests and are very useful to detect the lead level.

It is very important to prevent exposure to toxic agents, but we must know that are many other causes of schizophrenia too.
