Is There Really A Fountain Of Youth?

By: Dale R Smith

If ever a single generation in the long history of homo sapien ever put up an effort to defeat the effects of inevitably growing old, the baby boomers have been the ones. Naturally, the firmly instilled wanting of the human to remain agless or even turn back the hands of clock are the essence of time itself. Needless to say, there is enough evidence ot that in the bounds of literature. In tomes ranging from The Fountain to Youth to Peter Pan, the instances fortell efforts to stubbornly proclaim "I won't grow up!" simply with the stamping of a foot will effectively stop the wrinkles, pains in the joint and, unfortunately, the middle age belly.

It would seem that baby boomers have had a long standing affection with youth. Undoubtedly rooted firmly in their dynamic teen and twenties years that this generation was strongly locked into the center of the universe. With a youth culture that was foremost in this country as well as the rest of the sexties and seventies. That manner of thinking does much to convince anyone that your generaton had the capability to never grow old.

Of course, the baby boomer generation has grown old. Fat loss supplements and an endless array of products have been created to assist baby boomers in their never ending effort to stay young and vibrant. This extensive and overpowering desire to stay young has been the power behind an explosive growth of an abnormal growth of wight control industry. And because if baby boomers cannot stop the natural process of aging, they have at least decided not look old.

From a medical or physiological point of view, naturally, has there ever been an effective or "youth" magic bullet. It goes without saying that medical science has enjoyed some fantastic advances with breakthough research and study. The boomers have been adequately prepared to provide funding for medical research that has resulted in significant elimination of certain effects of aging. Nevertheless, modern medicine has never found a magical potion that can a stop But medical science has not found any magic potion that could cause aging to stop or, at least, to reverse its effects.

Should aging be stopped at some level on the physical, we might wonder if that would be practical in light of aging that affects the whole of what a person is. It is well known the aging does no affect only the body but that our attitudes age, our maturity ages as does our ambitions. How we view our goals are also affected. All these factors have as much effect on the cycles of life spanning life from youth, parenthood, middle age and on into retirement as with the physical changes that are seen.

The question arises, then, "If the scientific world design the magic bullet that would allow one to never get old or die, is that what you would really want?" We seem to have the intuition within ourselves that there is a season to live and a season ot pass on with the life responsibility move on to others. There is a season for eveything and life works in a cycle. A time to till, a time to plant ... and a time to harvest. Your time on this earth is determined by your physical body and condition. Should you be in your fertile forties, your proper place is as spouse and parent, and that is what your should be. Then when you reach your seventies or eighties, your place is now a wise grandparent. Our accepted behavior in the society must logically be equivalent to our chronological age. What we expect from others would be equivalent to our age.

Should the aging process be substantially defeated, the existing life cycle would necessarily need to be completely re-structured. If it were to become evident that a life span of two hundred years was a reality rather than the existing eighty or ninety years, would you be required to plan anew for your family, your career and, for that matter, all your finances?

The current aging cycle, thankfully, remains constant. While baby boomers combat the inevitable aging struggle with passion, it is becoming apparent that they are becoming more capable of facing their senior years with a surplus of good to return to society. Just as the boomer generation have impacted society just as though each and every other decade, they are beginning to accept that theirs will be an integral part of aging. They will be a grand generation, the wonderful grandmothers and grandfathers of this season.

Perhaps a "fountain of youth" be someday a reality, it would appear it will be not a sudden bolt of lightening. Rather a gradual result of scientific discovery and medical advances. The most acceptable silver bullet is more a part of understanding our bodies and addressing what is best suited for survival. The top secret is no secret at all but the fat loss secret is available to anyone that want to extend his or her life beyond the norm.

Rapid weight loss is not good for your body. Much better is to lose weight slower and with determination. Always have a plan and stick with it. Better to have one or more losing the weight as a team.
