Jersey Boys Tickets

By: travelmayor

Mega hit musical, Jersey boys is the story of another mega hit act, The Four seasons. The band used to rule the Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame and the theater show rules the Broadway. Four iconic names made up the band including Frankie Valli and Nick Massi from Newark, Tommy DeVito from Belleville and Bob Gaudio from Bronx. They were a group of four boys from the wrong side of the fence who crossed the barrier and made it big in the arena. Churning out hits after mega hits consistently, the Four Seasons were a musical factory by themselves. They wrote and recorded their own songs, invented their own sound and their music made them one of the biggest pop sensations in American musical history. Jersey boys sold a record breaking 178 million records and became all time greats even before they were thirty.

Called as jukesicals, Jersey Boys cleverly interweave biography and songs, telling the rags-to-riches story of the four blue collar kids in search of stardom. Die hard fans of the band go inside the show knowing every song that was ever recorded by the band. For them it is a memory arousing drama about those wild youth times. They immediately seek out the show and every show is a sell out as the sound is fresh and original. The talented star cast of the play has made Jersey Boys a genre by itself. They truly deserve all the accolades that they are getting now from all quarters, be it the critics or the audience.

Christian Hoff stars as Tommy DeVito. Earlier than Jersey Boys, he used to work in another musical ‘The Who's Tommy.' Broadway debutant, Daniel Reichard is Bob Gaudio. He was previously seen in off-Broadway's Forbidden Broadway and The Thing About Men.

J. Robert Spencer as Nick Massi and John Lloyd Young playing Frankie Valli are debutants on the Broadway, too. Despite this, Young has delivers dynamite portrayal of the boy whose survives a bad marriage, the bitter betrayal and a tragic loss. His singing often brings down the house. Jersey Boys is based on the book by Marshall Brickman and Rick Elice. The lyrics are by Bob Crewe and the music that stands up to the expectations is by Bob Gaudio. The show’s director, Des McAnuff has 'The Who's Tommy' to his credit.

The atmospheric lighting that makes the performances and staging look good is all due to the hard work of Howell Binkley. Michael Clark is responsible for those original projections. Even the non-singing performers as Mark Lotitio can’t be ignored as he expertly handles several roles. As for promotions, the producers of Jersey Boys are reaching out to a non-traditional Broadway audience by running ads on oldies radio stations in New Jersey. The 2006 Tony award winner for Best Musical has hits like, ‘Sherry’, Big Girls Don’t Cry,’ ‘Can’t Take My Eyes Off You’ and ‘Oh, What A Night.’ The show has made more than $2 million in single tickets since the opening night and received all-around positive reviews on the first night itself.
