Originally from Connecticut, John Clayton Mayer, born on October 16, 1977, is an American Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter and guitarist. John Mayer attended Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts, at the age of nineteen but dropped out after two semesters. He then moved to Atlanta, Georgia with his college friend and bandmate, Clay Cook in 1998 where his musical talent continued to evolve.

Local producer and engineer Glenn Matullo helped John Mayer to record the independent EP Inside Wants Out. His first commercial single release was ‘No Such Thing’. The EP included only eight songs, all with Mayer on vocals and guitars. He then began to tour locally throughout Georgia and the surrounding states with EP's co-producer David "De-La" LaBruyere. Follow-up album, Heavier Things was released in 2003 and brought critical and commercial success even though it did not sell well. Mayer, however got a Grammy for Song of the Year in 2005 for his most successful single to date, ‘Daughters’. John Mayer dedicated the award of live performance to his grandmother, Annie Hoffman, who passed away in May 2004. He also won Best Male Pop Vocal Performance and the Hal David Starlight Award.

Due to collaborations with hip hop artist and producer Kanye West, John Mayer concert tour received praise from rap heavyweights like Jay-Z and Nelly. Together they appeared on rapper Common's song ‘Go!’. John Mayers Starting out with acoustic rock he made a transition towards the blues genre with the formation of the John Mayer Trio. Released on September 12, 2006, his latest studio album Continuum has a strong blues influence. Mayer suggested the album was intended to combine his signature pop music with the feel, sound, groove and sensibilities of the blues. Two of the tracks from his trio release ‘Try! — The funky "Vultures" and the blues centerpiece ‘Gravity’ were included on Continuum. John Mayer won two Grammy awards for Pop Vocal Album for Continuum and Best Male Pop Vocal Performance for ‘Waiting on the World to Change’ at the 49th Grammy Awards in February 2007.

John Mayer bio encourages audio taping at most of his live performances to give his fans the opportunity to recreate the live experience.

To date, he has toured with Maroon 5, Guster, Counting Crows, The Wallflowers, Teitur, and Sheryl Crow. Crow also appeared on the Cars Soundtrack with him and co-headlined a tour that ran from August to October 2006 and together they traded numerous on-stage shenanigans. Apart from music, John Mayer's interests include stand-up comedy, design, and writing. John Mayer has written pieces for several magazines including Esquire. He has also played himself on various programs, including CSI and on Chappelle's Show. John Mayer appeared in a New Beetle commercial playing a First Act guitar in a display of the Volkswagen’s newest feature: outlets for an electric guitar, allowing it to play through the car's stereo.

Writer Michael Bamberger chronicles the high school's senior class president, a huge John Mayer fan, and his school's quest for the ultimate prom in his book called Wonderland. Mayer appeared at the Pennsbury High School prom on May 14, 2004, in Fairless Hills, Pennsylvania outside of Philadelphia and Rolling Stone magazine covered that performance.

As John Mayer is a big fan of XM Satellite Radio's Ron and Fez and Opie and Anthony shows, he stopped in unannounced to the Ron and Fez Show on June 14 to premiere his latest single, then appeared on Opie and Anthony on July 26.
