This same hormonal change is a prime factor in the cause of yeast infection of pregnant or lactating women, and women who are menopausal. The same applies before and after menstruation cycles as this also promotes a significant hormonal upheaval.

Men can be affected by yeast infections through sexual intercourse with a woman who is experiencing yeast infections. This intercourse includes oral and vaginal sex. For women, other factors that can be common cause of yeast infections vary from the often use of douches, scented feminine hygiene products, feminine sprays and the habitual use of spermicides. The frequent usage of any of these will promote imbalance of the delicate balance of the vagina and trigger yeast infections.

The most ignored common cause of yeast infections is clothing. Tight fitting clothes such as pantyhose and skinny jeans will not allow vagina to breathe underneath, thus making it trapped in a damp condition without the flow of fresh air. Clothing that is made by fiber also gives the same effect.
