Natural Cure for Thyroid Problem and Associated Amenorrhea

Amenorrhea is the absence of menstruation (not having a period). There are two types of amenorrhea: primary and secondary.

When a girl reach age 16 and has not had a period, she may have primary amenorrhea.

When a woman who has been have periods misses three in a row, she is careful to have secondary amenorrhea. Secondary amenorrhea is more common than primary amenorrhea.

The thyroid (say: thy-royd) is a gland, which is an organ that produce special chemicals called hormones (say: hor-moans).

The major hormones that the thyroid makes and release into the bloodstream are called T4 or thyroxine (say: thy-rocks-in) and T3 or triiodothyronine (say: try-eye-o-doe-thi-row-neen).

Causes of thyroid problem and amenorrhea

1. # Loss of tissue: Treatment of hyperthyroidism by radioactive destruction of thyroid tissue or surgical taking away of thyroid hankie can result in hypothyroidism.
2. # Antithyroid antibodies: These may be there in people who have diabetes, lupus, rheumatoid arthritis, chronic hepatitis, or Sjogren syndrome.
3. # Congenital: Hypothyroidism can be present from birth. This is commonly discovered early with nationwide newborn screening for this disease.
