Neon Undercar Lights: Still A Classic

By: Matthew Barr

Still a Classic: Neon UnderglowFor a long time, neon lights have been a popular night light in bars, billboards, signs, clubs, and even in trucks and cars. For neon lighting in a car, tubes are put on the underside of the car producing a captivating glow, giving your vehicle an added detail for people to look at. Although there are newer, more advanced types of lighting systems used today such as LED lights, neon lights still have their own fans.

There has been much discussion regarding neon car lights by car buffs; some good and some bad. In comparison to LED lighting, neon lighting is much brighter, making it the ideal choice for anyone who wants to add a glowing or appealing aura under their car. The way that the neon lights fire up beneath your car makes it great to work around every angle, giving yourself the feeling of floating while showing the rest of your customized car. Neon lighting is set in a special piece of plastic that protects the neon tubes. This plastic gives the lights added durability.

Single LED bulbs won't be quite as bright. So you would need many LED light tubes to be as bright as neon lighting. If you're looking for a fluid and solid underbody system, neon lights are the much better choice. You even can install neon lights on smaller spaces on the inside of your car like on the dash, on the side doors and under the seat. In a classic lighting sense, neon night lights are unsurpassable.

Neon lights are generally cheaper than LED lights. These lights can be an easy fix when you want a car light system right now, since they can be installed with ease. You can even plug it into your car's cigarette lighter. Neon lighting can even pulse through your car's stereo. On a more practical level, neon lighting has been the standard for many years.

LED light fanatics, however see neon undercar lights as the 'old school' in custom car lighting. The lack of brightness in LED lighting is counterbalanced by its durability as LED lights last longer than a neon bulb. You can digitally synchronize LED lights to produce a variety of patterns and color shades, unlike neon lights which are only able to produce a limited group of colors. LED lights can be easily controlled wirelessly with blue-tooth or infrared. LED undercar kits light up faster than neon lighting, especially when it's cold. More importantly, the barely sealed LED bulbs just don't use as much power compared to neon lights.

Despite the fact that car enthusiasts want to say that neon lighting is a thing of the past, your under car lighting still depends on what you really want your car to look like. It's true that neon lights give your car more appeal, more of a glow, and more of an edge. Actually, a great deal of the old-school and retro discussion is what makes neon lighting a classic night light in custom cars and in street racing. The glowing elements of these lights guarantees that your car receives the attention it deserves.
