Resale Rights Membership: Pros and Cons

By: Brendan Jubb

E-commerce has changed dramatically, undergoing a revolution of sorts and tapping the creativity of millions who have an eye for outstanding products that will literally “fly off the shelves.”
Ever heard of resale rights? It’s the talk of the town, the latest innovation on cyberspace. It used to be that to sell a product online, you had to invent one – or get someone to help you invent it. You had to build it to perfection, get it designed, and then have it attractively packaged. Then you had to drum up a Dan Kennedy type of sales letter, tweak it further so the right impact words deliver the product’s message and purpose. After that, you whisper a prayer so that someone spots it and will click on the “buy” button. It was a labor-intensive process. It still is, for those who go to market this way.
There’s a much quicker way. And the wonderful thing is you don’t sell only one product. If you want you sell a dozen, or hundreds of digital products on your site. Imagine the profits!
Concept of Resale Rights: What is it?
The short answer: it’s the ability to resell a product you bought from someone else. You put it up for sale on your site and you keep 100% of the sale. The person you bought it from granted you full rights to resell the product without you paying him another cent after you paid his asking price.
The long answer: resale rights come in different types. You have master resale rights (you resell the product and you confer the right to your customer to resell it as well), private label rights (you can change the product to suit your requirements, obtain the source code and modify it and even put your name and signature on the product), basic resale rights (you can buy the product and re-sell it, but the person buying it from you does NOT have the right to resell it), giveaway rights (you can buy the product and then give it away for free as an incentive), rebranding rights (these are similar to private label rights but there are restrictions on what you can do with the product). Resell rights also include royalty rights and source code rights.
The concept of resell rights was developed to advantage by some forward thinking entrepreneurs. They created resale rights membership sites that charge anywhere from $29.00 per month to $500.00 to gain access to EVERYTHING for members who want to penetrate a sizeable portion of the digital product market. They want access to a whole gamut of hot items that fuel consumer demand.
Resale Rights Membership: Pros and Cons
Given that resale rights memberships are firing the imagination of entrepreneurs, we believe there are more pros than cons:
1- Traffic to your web site increases exponentially,
2 - Access to opt-in subscriber lists is enhanced,
3 - Large availability of digital products you can give away as lead generators,
4 - Automatic back-end sales,
5 - Viral marketing techniques that can be learned for a song,
6 - Knowledge power and additional income streams from great selling products.
Of course, there are cons, and if you are not in the know with regards to resell rights you could be signing up to a membership who only offer old products.
Numerous dishonest people launched ventures that trap the vulnerable and naïve. Weigh the factors of membership to protect yourself:
Factors in Choosing Membership
When shopping for a resale rights membership site, we use a check list:
1 - Does the membership fee reflect the scope and range of their product line?
2 - Does the site clearly define the privileges that come with each type of resale right and do they make the licences and copyright provisions crystal clear to protect you from any lawsuit?
3 - Can you see what products have already been added?
4 - Do they add new products every month?
5 - Do they explain the nature and type of product they sell?
6 - Do they make the source code available for certain products?
7 - Do they offer an affiliate program that pays more than 50%?
8 - Do they require a minimum membership period or can you give up membership at any time?
9 - Ultimately, what is the price of the membership? Will you be left wondering if it was $500 well spent? Or will you be happy if you begin paying out $29 per month for only 10 new products?
If you want your web site to sizzle, your pockets to expand and your traffic to build up, think about a resale rights membership. It takes the hassle out of hustling!
Here at MasterResaleRighs.com we built a membership by resellers for resellers, and we took into account everything that our current members would like to see in a membership.
