Rhinoplasty and its different procedures

By: Doctorbinder

Everyone is guilty of wanting plastic surgery to better one part of the body or another, but many people are guilty of wanting a more flawless face. Because the face is the most visible part of a person those who have too large or a misshaped nose never feel fully comfortable. Many people who long to have rhinoplasty look at themselves in the mirror and feel self-conscious instead of self-confident. Rhinoplasty is plastic surgery to reshape the nose. Rhinoplasty Los Angeles surgeons say is surgery and like all other surgery comes with risks, if one is interested in having the procedure he or she should read this article for more information on rhinoplasty.

Rhinoplasty can be done for purely cosmetic reasons or it can be done to fix a deformity for whatever reason it might be the procedures is still designed to reshape the nose. The septum is the wall between the two nostrils, composed of cartilage and bone. The septum divides the nasal cavity into halves. Normally the septum is straight, separating the left and right of the nose into passageways of equal size. A deviated septum which is a condition many people have rhinoplasty for is when the septum is shifted away from the middle line. In severe cases a deviated septum causes trouble breathing through the nose.

Before having rhinoplasty many of the best rhinoplasty surgeon in Beverly Hills will provide the patient with step by step instructions. No matter what type of rhinoplasty one is having there is no drinking or eating the night before surgery. If the patient is a smoker he or she will be advised to quit. Smoking lessens the oxygen to the skin and prevents the healing process from properly taking place. Consuming alcohol the week of surgery will also be discouraged because it thins the blood and will also prevent the patient from healing as fast as they should. At this same time the surgeon will inform his patient on any medication that must be discounted because they are blood thinners, but do not discontinue any medication without first discussing with a doctor.

The risks of rhinoplasty include
· Infection
· Bleeding
· Breathing problems
· Additional touch-up surgeries
· Septal perforation (small hole in septum)
· Anesthesia complications
· Death

The types of rhinoplasty a person can chose to undergo and the surgeon may choose for the patient according to what is best for their condition are:

Open rhinoplasty:

This procedure is used for major nose re-shaping. Incision are made in the vertical strip of skin separating the nostrils (columella). Next, the skin and soft tissue are elevated off the underlying structures of the nose so the surgeon can see the nasal anatomy.

Closed rhinoplasty:

Is best when used for minimal reshaping. Incisions are normally made within the nose, the skin is then separated from the bone and cartilage, which form its supporting framework. Once exposed, bone and cartilage can be removed, reshaped augmented and or rearranged for the desired new shape.

Secondary Rhinoplasty:

Also known as revision rhinoplasty is performed to correct problem that develop from previous rhinoplasty procedures. This procedure can be done open or closed according to what the surgeon feels necessary.

Filler rhinoplasty:

This is done in order to disguise a bump or crookedness, and even shape the angle of the tip of the nose. Instead of removing a bump one surgeon may use Beverly Hills Botox or others fillers to even it out. The result is not permanent but it is less costly and comes with smaller risk. In Los Angeles Botox is not the only filler surgeons chose for this procedure, there are other softer fillers that some surgeons feel are best.
