Diet plays a major role in maintaining one’s good health. Diet simply represents the amount of food consumed by a person or other organisms. A healthy diet must be balanced, and must include all nutrients essential for physical as well as mental development. Nowadays, a lot number of diet programs are available to balance your health and reduce weight, such as the zone diet and high protein low carbohydrates diet.
Developed by Dr. Barry Sears in 1990, zone diet is an easy diet plan, specifically designed to help dieters in managing their weight and body fat level. Through zone diet, the dieters’ daily intake of carbohydrates, fats, and proteins are balanced. This helps to regulate and stabilize the amount of insulin production, which in turn results in the proper functioning of hormones and overall better health. A zone diet primarily contains low fat protein, low density carbohydrate foods like vegetables and fruits, and some monounsaturated items including almonds, macadamia nuts, and olive oil.
Low carb diet programs are regarded as one of the effective ways to burn unwanted fat and balance your health. They are high in proteins and at the same time low in carbohydrates.
Some of the prime benefits derived from this diet program are weight loss, enhanced triglycerides, improved insulin sensitivity, better mental concentration, and improvement in skin appearance. Most popular among the low carb diet programs are the Atkins diet and the South Beach diet.
Concept introduced by Dr. Atkins, Atkins diet plan consists of four stages: induction, ongoing weight loss, pre-maintenance, and maintenance. Induction stage is a 14-day program, and during this period your carbohydrates are limited to 20 grams/day. In the later stages, you can monitor and check your carbohydrates level, after deducting fiber grams from the overall carbohydrates gram. Atkins diet plans recommends such food items as red meats, fish, eggs, and low carbohydrate vegetables.
South Beach diet plan is a three-phase program, which consists of intake of meals with right proportion of carbohydrates and fats. The first stage lasts for two weeks and it is restricted to eating only such food items as lean meats, vegetables, nuts, cheese, and eggs. In the second phase, this diet plan allows to add in some of the food that was banned in the first stage, like pasta, rice, and potatoes. This is primarily designed to ensure that you continue to lose weight at a good rate. Phase three includes eating healthy foods vital for your rest of the life, which helps you to maintain good health and balance weight.
Significant diet plans also cover acid reflux diets inclusive of low calorie food items; diabetic diet plans providing carbohydrates and dietary fibers in right density; and Mediterranean Diet.
Program inspired by the dietary models of the countries of the Mediterranean basin.
