Taking good care of a contact lens

Do you use contact lenses for your eyes? If you do use a pair of contact lens or willing to get one to replace your shabby eyeglasses, then you must keep certain things in mind. A contact lens must be taken well care of, a slight mistake or negligence while using it can spoil it permanently and even harm your eyes. A contact lens has lots of advantages over the shabby eyeglasses that people used to use previously. Although lenses are a bit difficult to handle, but its use and utilities are much better than glass spectacles. Lenses can be used anywhere and by any person, even a baby can use it, but the insertion and replacement have to be done by experts. Expert here refers to the baby’s parents, who have experience in handling contact lenses.

A person using contact lens must take good care of it, which involves cleaning the lens and storing it in a suitable solution provided with the contact lens. A contact lens should be cleaned at proper intervals as directed by the manufacturer. The lens must be kept clean and moist always, otherwise it cause irritation to your eyes. Depending on your type of contact lens, you can get different ways for cleaning and disinfecting a contact lens. Since, contact lenses are made of synthetic materials; there is a chance of micro organisms and other deposits to grow up in it. If proper cleaning is not done, these deposited materials on the lens can cause an uncomfortable feeling and irritation to your eyes. The deposited materials on a contact lens can also result to a blurry vision.

Contact lenses should be cleaned with the solution provided with it only. Contact lenses from different manufacturers need different solutions, and perfect solution is the one provided with the contact lens. Many people use water to clean and rinse a contact lens, but that is not a good idea. Normal water contains various types of minerals and metals, which can damage the lens and also harm your eyes. The normal water cannot disinfect a contact lens; moreover the micro organisms present in water can cause serious problems to your eyes.

There are also several other precautions that a person should follow while using contact lenses.

1.The contact lens should be inserted and removed from the eye very carefully.

2.A person should not wear contact lenses while sleeping, the lens must be removed while going to sleep and store it in the solution during that time.

If a person is willing to get a pair of contact lenses to replace his eye glasses, then he should always go for a lens from any well known manufacturer.
