The Perfect Mother’s Day Gift - A Day at a Spa

By: Rob Parker

Make no mistake, mothers love to be mothers. There is nothing more fulfilling than seeing one’s children grow and feeling a sense of pride over all of their achievements, big and small.

Being a mother is also a very difficult job. Most mothers actually have several jobs all rolled into one, and the job doesn’t end after eight or even twelve hours; it is a 24-hour a day, seven day a week job.

One of the weird things about being a mom is that even on vacation, the job comes with you. That is why a day out at a spa is one of the most perfect gifts that anyone can get for the mother in their life on Mother’s Day; not only will she get to enjoy an entire day truly on vacation, but while doing so she has the opportunity to be pampered and achieve a real sense of relaxation.

The daily stresses of life can add up for everyone, and that is especially true of busy mothers. Spas offer relaxing massages and herbal baths, a chance to just sit in silence or in the company of other adult women, with no worries about the phone ringing, the kids fighting, or what to make for dinner. Instead, it is a time of total relaxation, a time where for once other people will be doting on her.

A day at a spa will not only help a mother to relax, but it also offers the opportunity to have access to what is often missing in the lives of most moms, especially those who stay at home: a chance to talk to other adults throughout a whole day. Kids are a source of constant joy, but the intellectual stimulation can be fairly low when the daily routine involves a lot of preschool vocabulary and games of make believe.

Finally, a day at a spa gives a mother the chance to get prettied up by a real professional. A lot of time devoted to the family means a lot less time to focus on herself, and it is nice for a mother to have a day that is solely given over to making her look and feel her best. An often ignored fact about moms is that like most women, when they feel they are looking their best, they feel the happiest. A full day of concentration on the perfect manicure, pedicure, and makeup applications as well as the latest trends in skin treatments will leave her aglow for weeks.

A trip to the spa for a day is the perfect gift for any mom on Mother’s Day. It combines all the aspects of a true vacation, a pampered outing, and a beauty salon into one memorable, day long excursion.
