The importance of pearly white hygiene

By: Carreon Fred

In order to solve the many different health needs of people, different toothpaste formulations are developed. For example, you can buy one that will knock down tartar build up in your teeth and also get one especially made for kids! Whatever you choose to get, make sure it contains enough fluoride, to eliminate cavities. When it comes to the best toothpaste formula for your family, you may ask your dentist for advice.

You better select the right kind of toothbrush. It is advised that one must get a toothbrush with right bristles along with the right shape and size so that brushing can really work wonders. It is wise to grab a toothbrush which fits so well in your hand and is also easy to be controlled.

Make sure to not use the same toothbrush up to 4 months. You might even damage your gums with toothbrushes that have worn, split or uneven or toothpaste clogged bristles that can never clean the teeth. Replacing your toothbrush after coming from an illness should be a good way to prevent being infected once more. Proper daily brushing is just as important as the usual habit of brushing.

First, hold your toothbrush at a 45 angle to your gum line, then gently scrub back and forth with short strokes, covering one or two teeth at a time. Be sure to clean surfaces of all teeth, plus the inside, outside and chewing surfaces of all teeth thoroughly. For fresher breath, one must endeavor the brushing of one's tongue.

Flossing is very important as this alone can reach the hard to reach places and fully get rid of plaque and food particles stuck here. Before getting to work on it, make sure that you have at least 2 inches allowance after wrapping it thoroughly around each of your middle fingers. The spaces between teeth and the area under the gum line should be touched by the floss. As you move the floss away from the gums, scrape the sides of the tooth very gently.

Rinsing teeth provides added protection. Using a fluoride or tartar control rinse every day gives you extra protection in hard to reach places like between teeth and round braces. Thanks to the swishing motion, trapped food particles in the mouth are released.

Fluoride rinse is very much needed by those who are very much cavity prone like old people with receding gums, patients recuperating from periodontal operations and even young children. Limiting ugly tartar build up around teeth ensues the help of a tartar control rinse. If there is tartar, the cement like matter forming around teeth and causing stains in the enamel, plaque and its bacteria is sure to grow.

Having not only healthy mouth and teeth but as well as body can be achieved when you eat right. The frequency of one's intake of bread, cookies, cakes and other foods high in sugar and starch must be limited. By keeping food stored in your mouth for a long time, the plaque is given more chance to produce more tooth enamel destroying acids. Foods that are sucked such as candies, cough drops and mints should be limited.

It is not wise to snack on foods that are high in sugar or starch but if you really have to eat them, try to eat them with your meals. During mealtime, the mouth produces more saliva as this is important in neutralizing acid production plus, this helps clear food from within the mouth. After every meal, it would be wise to brush and floss. Upon finishing a meal and you cannot brush immediately, chewing sugarless gum would be a good idea. When it comes to food clearance and acid neutralization, one can depend on chewing gum which enables saliva to flow.
