What Causes Acne?

By: Ashish Jain

It is reported that over 17 million people are affected by acne in the United States. The real causes of acne can never be listed or enumerated. As on date, no one knows why acne comes, and how it goes. The arrival and departure of acne is many times with treatment and sometimes without the treatment!

Those who do not suffer the attack of acne during their life time, once or more than once, may be rarest of the rare cases. At any given time, millions all over the world suffer the attack of acne. Therefore, acne medication and acne treatment is the hotly discussed subject always.

Though, we can certainly have a peep into the probable aspects of acne causes established by the researchers. But before that you must understand how acne forms.

Well, we know many facts about acne, except the nature and timings of its attack. Sebum is prevented from passing through the pore to the surface of the skin. This results in clogging of the pores. Skin follicles find it difficult to shed properly. The result is eruptions, called pimples. The skin surrounding the pimple is also affected causing irritation and inflammation. This is the breakout of acne. Mixture of oil, bacteria and dead skin cells are the compost for the growth and spread of acne.

Four main types of acne-lesions are identified. The small bumps, which are pink in color, are papules. Some are red at the base of the skin and are pus-filled. These are pustules. A solid and large lesion deep within the skin, large-sized, is named as nodule. The scar-prone, deep, pus-filled lesion is called a cyst.

If you understand acne is the process through which you have to go through during the particular phase of your life, you will understand that much of your tension is superfluous. The presence of excessive hormones is the cause of acne. The level of sex hormones rises when girls and boys reach the age of puberty. The oil glands expand and produce more sebum. Your skin pores are blocked.

Another well-researched fact is that acne may be a genetic disorder. If your patents had it, you are likely to have it at some stage of your life.

But the mystery relating to the possible causes of acne continues to baffle the researchers. Apart from the physical causes, the psychological causes contribute to your misery. Your acne will certainly worsen if stress is your way of life. Your emotional attitudes have something positive to do with the growth and spread of acne.

Be at peace and help the cause of eradication of acne. Pollution and humidity have always been the skin irritants. More so, when you have the attack of acne! Give up the use of doubtful cosmetics.

Your good cleanliness habits need further polishing. Don't you ever pick and squeeze your pimples. Wash your face tenderly and avoid frictions at all costs.
